Job Description
Elands Bay Guesthouse is seeking a dedicated and professional Shuttle Service Driver to join our growing team. This hybrid role will be instrumental in enhancing our guest experience by providing safe, punctual, and comfortable transportation services. As a Shuttle Service Driver, you will be the face of our guesthouse during transit, responsible for transporting guests to and from various locations including local attractions, regional transport hubs (e.g., Vredenburg or Cape Town for airport connections depending on guest needs), bus terminals, and within Elands Bay itself. Your primary goal will be to ensure the utmost safety and comfort of our guests, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and company policies. This position requires not only excellent driving skills but also a friendly demeanor, strong customer service orientation, and a commitment to maintaining vehicle cleanliness and operational readiness. You will be expected to manage your routes efficiently, assist guests with luggage, and provide helpful local information, all while upholding the high standards of hospitality that Elands Bay Guesthouse is known for. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and punctually transport guests to and from designated locations, including local points of interest, transport hubs, and other specified destinations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies at all times.
- Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the shuttle vehicle, including conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and arranging for regular maintenance.
- Assist guests with loading and unloading luggage and ensure their comfort and safety during transit.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service, answering guest inquiries and offering helpful local insights and recommendations when appropriate.
- Manage schedules and routes efficiently, communicating any potential delays or changes to guests and management proactively.
- Handle emergency situations with calmness and professionalism, reporting incidents promptly and accurately.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, service logs, and guest transport details.
- Represent Elands Bay Guesthouse professionally at all times, reflecting our commitment to quality and service.
Required Skills
- Valid South African Code 08 (B) or Code 10 (C1) driver's license with a Public Driver's Permit (PDP).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of professional driving experience, preferably in a shuttle service, hospitality, or tourism environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Elands Bay and surrounding Western Cape areas, including key attractions and routes.
- Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written, for clear communication with guests and staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, strict adherence to traffic laws, and a clean driving record.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to lift and carry luggage (up to 20 kg) and assist guests with their belongings.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in an additional South African language (e.g., Afrikaans, Xhosa) to better serve diverse guests.
- Previous experience working directly in a guesthouse, hotel, or tourism-related business.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting and preventive maintenance checks.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge and practical application of defensive driving techniques.
