Job Description
Conoil Producing Limited seeks a highly skilled and experienced Production Geologist to join our growing team in Lokoja, Kogi State. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maximizing hydrocarbon recovery from our producing assets. This role requires a strong understanding of reservoir characterization, production optimization, and geological modeling, with a proven ability to analyze complex data and make sound technical decisions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and geoscientists to deliver on production targets and enhance operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for reservoir modeling, creating geological interpretations for field development planning, and providing technical support to operational teams. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and collaborative teamwork. A deep understanding of Nigerian geological formations and regulatory frameworks is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dynamic reservoir models to optimize production performance.
- Conduct geological interpretations and analysis of subsurface data (seismic, well logs, core data) to characterize reservoir properties.
- Evaluate production data to identify and diagnose production issues and optimize well performance.
- Support the development of field development plans and reservoir management strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to address reservoir challenges and enhance recovery.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of latest industry technologies and best practices in production geology.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE regulations and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of reservoir geology, geophysics, and petroleum engineering principles.
- Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, Petrel).
- Experience with well log interpretation and geological modeling.
- Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in production geology, preferably in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
- Experience with unconventional reservoir characterization techniques.
- Membership in a professional geological society (e.g., AAPG, SEG).
