Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Privacy Officer to join our growing team in Ibadan. The Data Privacy Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive data privacy program that ensures compliance with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). This role will require a strong understanding of data privacy principles, best practices, and regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our client’s data. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in data privacy management, a strong understanding of data security, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This role requires working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across various departments, both within PwC Nigeria and with our clients, making this role a strategic and critical component of our firm’s operations. You’ll be a key advisor to the business on data privacy matters, and will be involved in incident response, audits, and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data privacy program aligned with NDPR and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct data privacy risk assessments and identify potential vulnerabilities.
- Develop and deliver data privacy training programs for employees and clients.
- Manage data privacy incidents and breaches.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with data privacy policies and procedures.
- Advise on data privacy issues and provide guidance to business units.
- Stay informed of evolving data privacy laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement data security measures.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation related to data privacy policies and procedures.
- Prepare reports on data privacy activities and compliance.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of NDPR and other relevant data privacy laws and regulations.
- Experience in developing and implementing data privacy programs.
- Strong knowledge of data security best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience working in a professional services environment.
- Experience with data breach response and investigation.
- Experience with data privacy audits.
