Job Description
As a WordPress Theme Developer at MaineWeb, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom WordPress themes. You will work closely with designers and project managers to ensure that our clients’ websites are visually appealing, functional, and optimized for performance. You will be involved in all stages of the development process, from initial concept to final deployment. This is a remote position offering flexibility and autonomy, while still being part of a collaborative and supportive team. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects for diverse clients, continually expanding your skillset and contributing directly to the success of the company. We utilize agile methodologies and prioritize clear communication and efficient workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing custom WordPress themes using best practices
- Writing clean, well-documented, and efficient code
- Working with designers to implement design specifications
- Testing and debugging themes to ensure functionality and compatibility
- Optimizing themes for speed and performance
- Maintaining and updating existing themes
- Collaborating with other developers and project managers
- Participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback
- Staying up-to-date on the latest WordPress development technologies and trends
Required Skills
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with WordPress theme development
- Strong understanding of PHP and WordPress APIs
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular)
- Experience with theme frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Foundation)
- Experience with responsive design
- Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha)
- Experience working with headless WordPress implementations
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
