Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Weighbridge Operator to join our dynamic team at the Mogalakwena Mine in Mokopane, Limpopo. This pivotal role involves the accurate weighing and recording of all incoming and outgoing vehicles, ensuring compliance with operational procedures and safety standards. As a Weighbridge Operator, you will be the first point of contact for many visitors and transporters entering and exiting our site, making your professionalism and attention to detail paramount. You will be responsible for the precise capture of data, maintaining meticulous records, and generating reports crucial for our logistics, inventory management, and overall operational efficiency. This role demands a high level of accuracy, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate the weighbridge accurately to weigh all incoming and outgoing vehicles carrying materials such as ore, waste, consumables, and finished products.
- Record precise weights, vehicle details, material types, and other relevant data into the weighbridge management system.
- Issue and collect weighbridge tickets and other necessary documentation.
- Verify the legality and safety of vehicles and loads before and after weighing, ensuring compliance with road traffic and site regulations.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly records and generate reports as required for operational, financial, and auditing purposes.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with truck drivers, dispatchers, and other site personnel regarding weighing procedures, material movements, and any discrepancies.
- Conduct routine pre-operation and post-operation checks on weighbridge equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to supervisors.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of zero harm.
- Assist with general administrative tasks within the department as needed, including filing and data organization.
- Manage traffic flow around the weighbridge area to ensure safety and efficiency for all site users.
Required Skills
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience operating a weighbridge, preferably within a mining, logistics, or heavy industrial environment.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data entry, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for record keeping and reporting.
- Strong numerical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and discrepancy detection.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team in a demanding operational environment.
- Valid South African Driver's License (Code B/08) is essential for site access and occasional tasks.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and operational compliance, understanding the importance of risk management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically within the mining or minerals processing sector.
- Familiarity with weighbridge software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP).
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection procedures for heavy-duty vehicles.
- Relevant First Aid certificate and/or basic fire fighting training.
