As a Waste Collector, you will be a visible and respected member of the Biffa team, working outdoors in all weather conditions to provide an indispensable service to residents and businesses. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently collect various types of waste and recycling from residential and commercial properties along designated routes.
- Operate bin lifts and other vehicle-mounted equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines.
- Assist the driver with safe maneuvering of the vehicle, acting as a 'banksman' when required, especially in busy or confined areas.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service, interacting courteously and professionally with residents and businesses, addressing any queries politely.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues promptly to management to ensure operational safety.
- Ensure waste is loaded correctly and securely onto the vehicle to prevent spills, hazards, or damage during transport.
- Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
- Maintain cleanliness of collection areas and assist with any spillages or litter as necessary, leaving areas tidy.
- Follow collection schedules meticulously and report any missed collections, access issues, or changes to routes.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills, knowledge, and adherence to best practices.

- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting and walking.

Preferred Qualifications

- Full UK driving license (Class B) and a desire to progress to HGV Class C (Lorry Loader) is a significant advantage, demonstrating career ambition.
