Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pack bottled wine products into designated cartons, crates, or other packaging according to production specifications and stringent quality standards.
- Operate packing machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, including performing basic operational checks and reporting any malfunctions promptly to supervisors.
- Apply labels, seals, caps, and other packaging materials precisely, ensuring product presentation meets Boland Cellar's premium brand image and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough visual quality inspections of bottles, labels, and packaging to identify and promptly remove any defective items, maintaining product integrity.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment within the packing section, adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with various inventory management tasks, including the accurate receiving, sorting, staging, and dispatching of packed goods as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other production departments to ensure smooth workflow, efficient transitions, and timely completion of tasks.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and quality management systems to ensure compliance and consistent operational excellence.
- Actively participate in training and development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge related to warehouse operations, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
- Support general warehouse duties and contribute to overall operational efficiency as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced production or warehouse environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, particularly in packing and quality checks.
- Good physical stamina, capable of standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and moving packages regularly (up to 20kg).
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions diligently and apply them consistently.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels, understanding specifications, and accurate counts.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
- Unwavering commitment to safety and strict adherence to workplace regulations and procedures.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (e.g., 6 months or more) as a warehouse operator, packer, or in a similar production role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent qualification (e.g., NQF Level 2/3).
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and best practices in a manufacturing or packing setting.
- Experience operating basic warehouse equipment such as hand pallet jacks (advantageous but not essential for the packing section).
