Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently load and unload freight by hand or using appropriate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks) onto and off trucks, trailers, and within the warehouse.
- Sort and organise incoming and outgoing shipments according to company procedures and designated warehouse locations.
- Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests or invoices, reporting discrepancies immediately.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and proficiently, including pallet jacks and other machinery, adhering strictly to safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, ensuring aisles are clear and products are properly stored.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve daily operational goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations, particularly during peak periods.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, particularly in a loading/unloading capacity.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 25kg) consistently and safely.
- Demonstrated physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods during a night shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments and handling goods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic, especially for night shift schedules.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures and commitment to safe work practices.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack) with certification.
