Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Warehouse Driver and Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team in Roodepoort, Gauteng. This is a critical role responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods within our busy warehouse environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in our supply chain operations, ensuring products are received, stored, and dispatched accurately and on time.
Your day-to-day will involve operating various material handling equipment, primarily forklifts, to load, unload, stack, and retrieve materials. You will be expected to adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a high standard of operational safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck) and other material handling equipment to load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials.
- Perform daily pre-operation checks on equipment and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Receive incoming goods, verifying quantities and inspecting for damages, and accurately record relevant information.
- Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper stacking and storage procedures are followed to maximize space utilization and maintain accessibility.
- Pick and prepare orders for outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to dispatch schedules.
- Load outgoing shipments onto trucks, securing goods appropriately to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with inventory counts and participate in stock-taking activities as required.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to company standards for quality, safety, and productivity.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator's License (e.g., counter-balance, reach truck endorsement)
- Valid Code 8 (B) or 10 (C1) South African Driving License
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a forklift operator in a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment
- Strong understanding and commitment to warehouse safety protocols and procedures
- Excellent spatial awareness and ability to maneuver equipment in tight spaces
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for inventory counting and record-keeping
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS)
- First Aid certification
- Familiarity with various types of warehouse equipment beyond forklifts
