Shoprite Holdings Ltd, Africa’s largest food retailer, is seeking a dedicated and efficient Warehouse Clerk Inventory Team member to join our vital operations in Cradock, Eastern Cape. This pivotal role ensures the smooth flow of goods, from receiving to dispatch, maintaining optimal stock levels and accuracy that directly impact our ability to serve our communities. As a Warehouse Clerk Inventory Team member, you will be at the heart of our supply chain, ensuring that our shelves are consistently stocked with the products our customers need. Your day-to-day will involve a blend of physical tasks and precise administrative work, playing a crucial role in maintaining inventory integrity. You’ll be responsible for accurate stock receipt, careful storage, and efficient dispatch processes, contributing significantly to the overall operational efficiency of our store and regional distribution network. This position demands a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team. You’ll be instrumental in preventing stock loss, minimizing waste, and ensuring compliance with all company and industry standards for handling and storage. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately receive, unload, and process incoming merchandise, verifying quantities against purchase orders and promptly reporting any discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Systematically organize and store products within the warehouse, ensuring items are easily accessible, correctly labelled, and stored in accordance with safety and hygiene protocols.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and full stocktakes to maintain precise inventory records both physically and within our inventory management systems.
- Prepare and dispatch stock to the sales floor, ensuring timely replenishment and accurate order fulfillment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment, adhering to all occupational health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks) as required.
- Collaborate effectively with store management, sales associates, and other team members to ensure seamless stock flow and operational excellence.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor inventory issues, contributing to process improvements and efficiency gains.
- Assist in the proper disposal of waste and recyclable materials.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months experience in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory management role.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and physical tasks.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy, including experience with inventory management software or similar systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Matric Certificate).
- Previous experience in a retail or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with various stock management techniques and strategies.
