Key Responsibilities

• Warmly greet and seat guests upon arrival, presenting menus and articulately explaining daily specials.
• Accurately take food and beverage orders, ensuring all special requests, modifications, and dietary restrictions are clearly communicated to the kitchen staff.
• Serve food and beverages promptly, professionally, and courteously, adhering strictly to all established service standards.
• Continuously monitor table activity to anticipate guest needs, proactively addressing requests, and ensuring their complete satisfaction throughout their meal.
• Clear tables efficiently and discreetly, promptly resetting them for the next guests, and meticulously maintaining cleanliness and order in the entire dining area.
• Process payments accurately and efficiently using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, expertly handling cash and credit transactions.
• Collaborate effectively and harmoniously with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other front-of-house team members to ensure a smooth and seamless service flow.
• Address guest inquiries, concerns, and resolve any service-related issues with a polite, professional, and solutions-oriented attitude.
• Adhere rigorously to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and standards applicable to food service.
• Assist in the thorough opening and closing duties of the restaurant as required, ensuring the establishment is prepared for service or properly secured.

Required Skills

• Proven experience of at least 1 year in a customer-facing role, preferably within a food service or hospitality environment.
• Excellent verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with diverse clientele.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining composure and a positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in order taking and service delivery.
• Basic mathematical skills for accurately handling transactions and making change.
• A consistently positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to achieving and exceeding guest satisfaction.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and to lift and carry moderate weights (e.g., trays of food and dishes).

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1-2 years of progressive experience as a waitress or in a directly comparable food service role.
• Proficiency and experience with common POS (Point-of-Sale) systems.
• Possession of a valid food handling certificate or a willingness to obtain one promptly upon employment.
• Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Swahili, Luhya) is considered a valuable asset.
