Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive vineyard plans to optimize grape quality, yield, and vine health.
- Monitor vineyard conditions, including soil moisture, nutrient levels, plant health, and pest/disease pressure.
- Design and execute irrigation schedules and water management strategies to ensure efficient water use.
- Implement integrated pest and disease management programs, prioritizing sustainable and environmentally friendly approaches.
- Oversee and manage all vineyard operations, including pruning, canopy management, trellising, and cover cropping.
- Conduct regular vineyard scouting, collect data, and analyze findings to inform viticultural decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the winemaking team to align vineyard practices with desired wine styles and quality targets.
- Manage vineyard labor, including supervision, training, and scheduling, ensuring high standards of work.
- Ensure strict compliance with all environmental regulations, industry standards, and sustainability certifications.
- Research, evaluate, and integrate new viticultural technologies and innovative practices.
- Prepare detailed reports on vineyard conditions, operational progress, and budget adherence.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for vineyard practices and overall grape quality.
Required Skills
- Proven practical experience in vineyard management and viticultural science.
- Strong understanding of plant physiology, soil science, meteorology, and entomology relevant to viticulture.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation for informed decision-making.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable and organic viticulture principles and practices.
