Job Description
As an integral part of our Communications and Stakeholder Relations team, the Videographer will be responsible for conceptualizing, capturing, and producing high-quality video content that tells the compelling story of Vedanta Zinc International’s operations, people, and community impact. This role is crucial in enhancing our internal and external communication efforts, ensuring our visual narratives resonate with diverse audiences, including employees, investors, local communities, and the broader public. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of video production, from pre-production planning and script development to on-site filming, editing, and post-production. You will work closely with various departments to understand their communication needs and translate complex information into engaging visual stories. This includes documenting critical mining operations, safety procedures, environmental initiatives, corporate social responsibility projects, employee profiles, and company events. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, exceptional storytelling abilities, and a deep understanding of video production techniques and equipment. You will be expected to operate independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines and safety protocols inherent in a mining environment. Your creative vision will play a key role in elevating our brand presence and reinforcing our commitment to responsible resource development in the Northern Cape. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, script, shoot, and edit high-quality video content for internal and external communication purposes.
- Operate and maintain professional video cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and other production tools.
- Collaborate with the Communications team and other departments to develop creative concepts and storyboards that align with communication objectives.
- Conduct interviews with employees, community members, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and compelling narratives.
- Manage all aspects of post-production, including video editing, color correction, sound mixing, motion graphics, and archival of footage.
- Ensure all video content adheres to company branding guidelines, safety standards, and legal requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest video production techniques, software, and industry trends.
- Travel to various on-site locations, including mining operations and community project sites, to capture footage.
- Maintain an organized digital asset management system for all video files.
- Provide creative input and suggestions for improving video quality and engagement.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in professional video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Expertise in operating professional cameras, audio, and lighting equipment.
- Strong portfolio showcasing diverse video production work (documentaries, corporate videos, promotional content).
- Excellent storytelling and visual communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of video formats, codecs, and delivery platforms.
- Valid South African driver's license.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience working in a corporate or industrial environment, particularly mining.
- Proficiency in motion graphics and animation software (e.g., Adobe After Effects).
- Experience with drone videography and relevant certifications.
- Knowledge of safety protocols in industrial settings.
- Ability to speak Afrikaans or other local languages.
