Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Veterinarian to join our dynamic and growing team at Gwarimpa Animal Hospital. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to a diverse range of companion animals, primarily dogs and cats, but occasionally other small domestic pets. As a Professional Veterinarian, you will be responsible for accurately diagnosing and effectively treating various illnesses, performing both routine and emergency surgical procedures with precision, administering essential vaccinations, and offering comprehensive preventative care advice tailored to each pet’s needs. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop appropriate treatment plans for various companion animals.
- Conduct a wide range of surgical procedures, including routine spays/neuters, soft tissue surgeries, and emergency interventions.
- Administer vaccinations, perform dental procedures, and provide preventative care recommendations.
- Interpret diagnostic tests (radiographs, ultrasounds, laboratory results) accurately.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and aftercare instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records using our veterinary practice software.
- Prescribe and dispense medications responsibly and in accordance with professional guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education to stay updated on the latest veterinary advancements and best practices.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
- Handle emergency cases and provide critical care as needed, demonstrating calm and decisive action under pressure.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in Nigeria.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduation clinical experience in a small animal practice.
- Proficiency in routine and emergency medical and surgical procedures.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to clients and animals.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in veterinary practice management software and basic computer skills.
