Job Description
Are you a visionary UI/UX Designer with a passion for creating truly impactful and intuitive digital products? Monzo is seeking a talented and experienced UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic and remote-first product team in Great Britain. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in shaping the user experience of our award-winning banking app, ensuring every interaction is seamless, delightful, and genuinely helpful. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from initial research and conceptualization through to detailed UI design and implementation support. This isn’t just about making things look good; it’s about deeply understanding user needs, translating complex financial concepts into accessible designs, and championing the user’s voice within our product development process. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end UI/UX design process for key features within the Monzo app, from discovery and ideation to final execution.
- Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights and validate design solutions.
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate design ideas and interactions.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers to define requirements, explore solutions, and ensure technical feasibility.
- Champion user-centred design principles and best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data analysis, and technical constraints, striving for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to and evolve Monzo's design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product.
- Present and articulate design decisions to various stakeholders, clearly explaining the rationale and impact.
- Actively participate in design critiques, providing and receiving constructive feedback to elevate the team's work.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer, Product Designer, or similar role with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design solutions for complex digital products.
- Expert proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma (preferred), Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Solid understanding of user-centred design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
- Experience conducting and interpreting qualitative and quantitative user research.
- Ability to translate complex problems into clear, intuitive, and engaging user experiences.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in a remote working environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for crafting pixel-perfect interfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the FinTech industry or a highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Proficiency in motion design or animation for UI.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
- Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better understand technical constraints.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in HCI, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
