Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and experienced TV Producer to join our dynamic team at our local station, serving the vibrant communities of Ikot Ekpene and its environs. The ideal candidate will be a visionary storyteller with a deep understanding of local issues, culture, and community interests, capable of transforming ideas into compelling broadcast content. As a TV Producer, you will be responsible for the entire production lifecycle, from conceptualization and script development to on-set supervision and post-production oversight. This role requires a blend of creative flair, strong organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail to ensure all programs align with AKBC’s editorial guidelines and broadcast standards. You will work closely with reporters, camera operators, editors, and presenters to bring local news, current affairs, documentaries, cultural programs, and entertainment shows to life for our dedicated viewership. Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, research, and develop innovative program ideas and formats relevant to the Ikot Ekpene community and Akwa Ibom State.
  • Write, edit, and approve scripts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to AKBC's editorial and ethical standards.
  • Manage the entire production process from pre-production to post-production, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Direct on-location and studio shoots, providing clear guidance to camera crews, presenters, and talent.
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, graphic designers, and other production staff to ensure seamless content creation.
  • Oversee post-production activities, including video editing, sound mixing, and graphic integration.
  • Ensure all produced content complies with broadcast regulations, copyright laws, and internal policies.
  • Identify and develop local talent, including presenters, interviewees, and community contributors.
  • Monitor program performance, gather feedback, and implement improvements to enhance viewership and engagement.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitors' programming.
  • Maintain strict adherence to production deadlines and budget constraints.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in television production, particularly in a local broadcast environment.
  • Strong storytelling and scriptwriting abilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in broadcast production workflows and equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of Akwa Ibom culture, current affairs, and community dynamics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Film Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with non-linear editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Knowledge of digital media content creation and social media integration.
  • Demonstrable portfolio of produced television programs or segments.
  • Fluency in local languages (e.g., Ibibio, Annang) in addition to English.
