Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) of various sizes, primarily Category C+E (Class 1) vehicles.
- Transport goods across designated routes, ensuring timely deliveries and collections.
- Adhere strictly to all road traffic regulations, tachograph rules, and company safety procedures.
- Conduct pre-shift vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure the secure loading and unloading of goods, including correct weight distribution and securing.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, logbooks, and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams, clients, and other road users.
- Represent Career.supersecrets and its partners professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV/LGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence or equivalent international licence recognised in the UK.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) demonstrable experience as an HGV driver.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent understanding of EU/UK driving hours regulations and working time directives.
- Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written.
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network, particularly the North West.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of freight, including refrigerated or hazardous goods (ADR qualification a plus).
- Forklift truck operating certificate (e.g., counterbalance, reach).
- Proven track record of maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
