Key Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs/LGVs) safely and efficiently, adhering to all road safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting any defects promptly.
- Transport a variety of goods across defined routes, including regional and long-haul journeys.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery manifests, logbooks, and inspection reports.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods, communicating any delays or issues to dispatch.
- Load and unload cargo safely, assisting with manual handling when required, and securing loads appropriately.
- Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
- Adhere to tachograph regulations and working time directives strictly.
- Represent the company professionally to clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) UK Driving Licence (or equivalent international licence eligible for conversion/exchange).
- Driver CPC qualification (or willingness to obtain with support).
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving (minimum 2 years).
- Excellent knowledge of UK driving regulations and road safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical condition to handle loading/unloading tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., curtainsiders, refrigerated units).
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Additional language skills are a plus.
