Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV/LGV) in accordance with company policies and UK road regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring roadworthiness and reporting any defects promptly.
- Load and unload goods securely, verifying accuracy against manifest documents.
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled delivery times.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle records, and compliance documentation.
- Adhere strictly to tachograph regulations and driver hours directives.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and collections.
- Handle goods with care to prevent damage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Category C+E (Class 1) or C (Class 2) HGV/LGV Driving Licence.
- Driver CPC Qualification Card.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) commercial HGV driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Strong understanding of UK road regulations and driver hours.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various vehicle types (e.g., curtainsiders, refrigerated units).
- ADR (Carriage of Dangerous Goods) certification.
- Manual Handling certification.
- Proven experience navigating UK road networks efficiently.
- Customer service experience in a delivery role.
