Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in accordance with all UK traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy and compliant.
- Complete daily logs, delivery manifests, and other relevant paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of goods to various destinations across London and the surrounding areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo when required, ensuring proper securing of loads to prevent damage.
- Maintain professional communication with dispatch, clients, and colleagues.
- Adhere to strict health and safety standards and maintain a clean driving record.
- Report any vehicle defects, incidents, or delays to the transport manager promptly.
- Manage working hours effectively to comply with tachograph regulations and the Working Time Directive.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) HGV driving license.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) proven experience as a professional Truck Driver.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Strong navigational skills and proficiency with GPS systems.
- Good physical condition and ability to handle manual loading/unloading tasks.
- Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics for routine checks.
- Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving in busy urban environments, particularly London.
- Knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance standards.
- Additional driving endorsements (e.g., ADR for hazardous goods, Moffett license).
- Clean driving record with no major endorsements or penalty points.
