Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) of various classes (primarily Class 1/CE or Class 2/C) to transport goods across specified routes.
- Perform daily vehicle safety checks, including tyres, brakes, lights, and fluid levels, reporting any defects promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all tachograph regulations, driving hours, and working time directives.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods, completing all necessary paperwork and electronic logs.
- Load and unload goods safely, securing cargo appropriately to prevent damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle, reflecting professional standards.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and UK road laws.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (CE) or Class 2 (C) driving license (or equivalent international license eligible for conversion).
- A clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Demonstrable experience as a professional truck driver.
- Excellent understanding and adherence to UK road regulations and highway code.
- Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading and vehicle checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
- ADR certification for handling hazardous goods (not essential but highly advantageous).
- Experience with various types of vehicles and trailers.
- Familiarity with telematics systems and digital tachographs.
- Previous experience driving in the UK or Europe.
