Job Description
Siginon Group is actively seeking experienced, highly skilled, and exceptionally motivated Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our robust and expanding freight transportation team, operating out of our Nanyuki, Laikipia County base. This pivotal role involves the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of a diverse range of goods across established routes within Kenya and, on occasion, extending to cross-border routes within the East African region. As a dedicated Long Haul Truck Driver with Siginon Group, you will be entrusted with the critical responsibility of operating heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs), ensuring strict adherence to all national traffic laws, internal company policies, and rigorous safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy commercial vehicles (trucks, trailers, tankers, etc.) safely and efficiently for long-haul and regional routes.
- Transport goods and materials securely and promptly to designated locations, adhering to delivery schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in optimal working order.
- Oversee accurate loading and unloading of cargo, verifying documentation (e.g., waybills, delivery notes) and reporting any discrepancies or damages immediately.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate logbooks, delivery records, fuel consumption reports, and all other required paperwork in strict compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Adhere strictly to all national and regional road safety regulations, speed limits, traffic laws, and company safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, logistics managers, fellow drivers, and customers regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, or any operational issues.
- Secure cargo properly using appropriate tie-downs, tarpaulins, and other securing devices to prevent shifting, damage, or loss during transit.
- Manage fuel consumption efficiently and be capable of performing minor roadside repairs or troubleshooting if necessary.
- Represent Siginon Group professionally at all times, upholding the company's reputation for reliability and service excellence.
- Actively participate in mandatory safety training, defensive driving courses, and continuous professional development programs offered by the company.
Required Skills
- Valid Class BCE/CE driving license (or equivalent heavy commercial vehicle license issued in Kenya).
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable and continuous experience as a Long Haul Truck Driver.
- Pristine driving record with no major accidents or significant traffic violations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in conducting comprehensive vehicle inspections and performing basic maintenance tasks.
- Strong foundational understanding and strict adherence to road safety regulations and robust cargo securement procedures.
- Proven ability to effectively read and interpret maps, utilize GPS devices, and follow detailed logistical instructions.
- Exceptional time management, organizational, and route planning skills.
- Documented physical fitness and demonstrable stamina to safely handle extended driving hours and occasional physical demands associated with cargo handling.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience with international or cross-border freight transportation within the East African region.
- Familiarity with the handling and transportation of various types of specialized cargo (e.g., hazardous materials, refrigerated goods, oversized loads).
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for operating electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other communication platforms.
- Current First Aid and advanced defensive driving certifications.
