We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Transportation Network Planner to join our dynamic team at our global headquarters in Melbourne. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continually optimise transportation network plans across multiple modes (road, rail, air, sea) to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
- Utilise advanced planning software, simulation tools, and analytical methodologies to model network scenarios, assess performance, and identify strategic areas for improvement.
- Conduct detailed analysis of current transportation operations, including freight volumes, routes, transit times, resource utilisation, and cost drivers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams, sales, customer service, and other departments to gather requirements and implement effective network solutions.
- Monitor real-time network performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), identify deviations from planned outcomes, and propose proactive corrective actions.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and executive-level presentations on network performance, cost savings initiatives, and strategic recommendations for senior management.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, market dynamics, and regulatory changes impacting transportation and logistics.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing overall supply chain efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
- Ensure all network plans and operations comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) as a Transportation Planner, Network Analyst, or a similar strategic role within a large-scale logistics, freight, or supply chain environment.
- Exceptional analytical and complex problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and manipulate large, intricate data sets.
- Advanced proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and specialised advanced planning tools (e.g., route optimisation software, network design tools).
- Deep understanding of logistics principles, various transportation modes, supply chain processes, and their interdependencies.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, data modelling) for sophisticated data analysis and reporting.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex technical information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software for route optimisation and geospatial analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian transportation regulations, infrastructure, and market dynamics.
- Demonstrated project management experience, particularly in logistics or supply chain optimisation initiatives.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma, APICS, or other relevant process improvement methodologies.
