Key Responsibilities
- Translate a variety of documents and content types (e.g., marketing materials, technical manuals, legal documents, websites) from source to target language with high accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Proofread and edit translated materials to ensure grammatical correctness, stylistic consistency, and adherence to client-specific terminology and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough research to ensure the correct usage of terminology and concepts, especially for specialized subject matters.
- Manage translation projects efficiently, adhering to deadlines and maintaining clear communication with project managers.
- Utilize CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation) and translation memory software to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client information and project details.
- Provide linguistic consultation and expertise as needed, contributing to client satisfaction and project success.
Required Skills
- Native-level proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Kinyarwanda, French, or English (as a target language)
- Exceptional command of grammar, syntax, and style in both source and target languages
- Proven ability to translate complex ideas and specialized terminology accurately and appropriately
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Proficiency in using CAT tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast) or similar translation software
- Excellent time management, organizational, and self-management skills
- Reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup to ensure productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field
- Certification from a recognized translation association (e.g., ATA, ITI)
- Specialization in specific fields such as legal, medical, technical, or marketing translation
- Experience with localization projects and adapting content for specific regional markets
- Familiarity with style guides and terminology management systems.
- Demonstrated experience working remotely and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
