Job Description

Are you passionate about nature, history, and engaging with people? Flamingo Gardens is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Entry-Level Tour Guide to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals eager to learn about Florida’s unique flora and fauna, its rich history, and share that knowledge with visitors from around the globe. As a Tour Guide, you will be the face of Flamingo Gardens, leading engaging and informative tours through our botanical gardens, Wray Botanical Collection, and wildlife sanctuary. You will bring our stories to life, helping guests connect with our mission of conservation and education. While prior tour guiding experience isn’t required, a genuine curiosity, excellent communication skills, and a desire to provide outstanding customer service are essential. We provide comprehensive training to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this fulfilling role. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging and informative tours for diverse groups of visitors through Flamingo Gardens' various attractions, including the botanical gardens, wildlife sanctuary, and historical exhibits.
  • Present factual information about Florida's native plants, wildlife, and the history of Flamingo Gardens in an accessible and entertaining manner.
  • Answer visitor questions clearly and accurately, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of our exhibits and conservation efforts.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Learn and continuously update knowledge about the Garden's collections, resident animals, special exhibits, and conservation initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming and memorable experience for all guests.
  • Assist with special events and educational programs as needed, contributing to the overall success of the Gardens' mission.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic and engaging personality with a passion for public speaking.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to learn and retain a large amount of information about plants, animals, and history.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in basic English; additional language skills are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or public-facing roles.
  • A demonstrated interest in nature, environmental science, history, or education.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, French, Portuguese) are highly valued.
  • Basic first aid or CPR certification.
