Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and diligent Tea Pluckers to join our vibrant team at Gisovu Tea Company in Rusizi, Rwanda. This crucial role is at the heart of our tea production process, directly influencing the quality and quantity of our renowned tea. As a Tea Plucker, you will be responsible for the careful and efficient harvesting of fresh tea leaves from our plantations. This physically demanding yet rewarding role requires precision, stamina, and an unwavering commitment to quality standards. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions, contributing directly to the initial and most vital stage of tea manufacturing. Our ideal candidate is someone who appreciates the art of tea production, possesses excellent manual dexterity, and thrives in a team-oriented agricultural environment. Full training will be provided to ensure you understand our specific plucking techniques, focusing on the ‘two leaves and a bud’ standard, which is paramount to maintaining the superior quality Gisovu Tea is known for. Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pluck fresh tea leaves, adhering strictly to the 'two leaves and a bud' standard.
- Sort and inspect plucked leaves to remove any unsuitable or damaged foliage.
- Maintain consistent plucking speed and efficiency to meet daily production targets.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth harvesting operations.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies while working in the tea fields.
- Assist in the maintenance and general upkeep of the tea plantation as required.
- Report any issues concerning plant health or field conditions to supervisors.
- Ensure the hygienic handling of tea leaves to prevent contamination.
