Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior tailors and designers with various stages of garment construction, including precise cutting, machine and hand sewing, and meticulous finishing.
- Learn and practice a diverse range of stitching techniques, both by hand for intricate details and using industrial sewing machines.
- Support the team with professional alterations, repairs, and garment adjustments to meet specific client requirements and ensure a perfect fit.
- Organize and maintain the tailoring workspace, ensuring all tools, equipment, and materials are readily available, neatly organized, and in optimal working condition.
- Help with thorough fabric preparation, including accurate measuring, precise marking, and careful pressing.
- Observe and actively participate in client fittings, learning how to identify and expertly address fit issues and client preferences.
- Assist in rigorous quality control checks, ensuring all garments meet Taibo Bacar's exceptionally high standards of craftsmanship and finish.
- Undertake general studio tasks as required to support the smooth and efficient operation of the design and production process.
- Actively seek constructive feedback and guidance from mentors to continuously improve tailoring skills, expand technical knowledge, and foster professional growth.
Required Skills
- Strong, demonstrable interest and passion for fashion, tailoring, and the art of garment construction.
- Basic understanding or prior experience with sewing, whether through formal training or self-taught projects (hand or machine).
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for precision and aesthetic quality.
- Ability to follow complex instructions meticulously and absorb new information and techniques quickly.
