Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sugar Estate Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Worthy Park Estate. This pivotal role is central to the efficient and productive operation of our sugar cane cultivation and harvesting processes. As a Sugar Estate Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing all field activities within an assigned section of the estate, ensuring optimal yield, quality, and operational efficiency. Your leadership will be crucial in managing field teams, implementing best agricultural practices, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of sugar cane agronomy, machinery operation, and team management. You will play a key role in planning, executing, and monitoring daily operations, contributing directly to the success of our sugar and rum production. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agricultural environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily sugar cane cultivation, planting, harvesting, and field maintenance operations within an assigned area.
  • Supervise and train field teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, operational procedures, and productivity targets.
  • Implement best agricultural practices, including irrigation management, fertilization, pest and disease control, and weed management.
  • Monitor crop health, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions to optimize yield and quality.
  • Operate and maintain agricultural machinery and equipment, coordinating with maintenance teams for repairs and servicing.
  • Prepare detailed operational reports on field activities, yield data, resource utilization, and team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and sustainable farming practices.
  • Manage budget and resources effectively to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and management to achieve overall estate objectives and production targets.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to standards across all field operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in sugar cane cultivation or large-scale agricultural operations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of agricultural machinery operation and maintenance
  • Proficiency in agronomy, including crop management, pest control, and soil science
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a demanding outdoor environment
  • Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite for reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field
