Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive one-to-one and group support, advice, and guidance to students on a wide range of academic, personal, and welfare issues.
- Advise students on academic policies, procedures, regulations, and progression requirements, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Signpost students effectively to appropriate internal and external specialist services, including mental health, disability support, careers, and financial aid.
- Assist students in developing personal action plans, setting realistic goals, and monitoring their progress throughout their studies.
- Respond promptly and professionally to student inquiries received via in-person consultations, email, telephone, and online chat platforms.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of student interactions and support provided, adhering to data protection guidelines.
- Organise and deliver workshops, information sessions, and drop-in clinics on relevant topics such as study skills, time management, and well-being.
- Collaborate closely with academic staff, faculty, and other administrative departments to ensure a cohesive and supportive student experience.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing student retention, engagement, and satisfaction.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in student support, well-being, and higher education policy.

- Proven strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Demonstrable problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with a calm and measured approach.
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload and competing priorities efficiently.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and general IT literacy.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data protection (GDPR).
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to student support.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related humanities/social science field.
- Previous experience in a student support, advisory, or pastoral care role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Familiarity with higher education systems, student life cycles, and common challenges faced by students.
- Experience with student information systems (SIS) or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Certification in Mental Health First Aid or similar well-being support training.
