Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate street sweeping equipment along designated routes in Downtown Huntington Beach.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal working order.
- Conduct minor preventative maintenance on equipment, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and sweeping brushes.
- Identify and report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or equipment malfunctions promptly to supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of routes completed, hours worked, and any incidents encountered.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members.
- Represent Republic Services professionally and courteously to the public while on duty.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) experience operating heavy equipment or commercial vehicles.
- Proven commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, lifting, and operating controls for extended periods.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically operating street sweeping equipment.
- Familiarity with the Downtown Huntington Beach area and surrounding routes.
- Knowledge of minor repair work on heavy equipment.
