Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and mobile transactions with integrity and precision.
- Provide friendly, attentive, and efficient customer service, answering queries and resolving minor issues.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, locating items, and providing information on promotions and services.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized checkout area and assist with general store cleanliness.
- Perform daily cashing up and reconciliation procedures.
- Ensure all transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with merchandising, stock replenishment, and general store duties when required.
- Proactively identify and address customer needs to enhance their shopping experience.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and security policies.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
- Fluency in English (additional local languages are a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer-facing retail role.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
