Job Description

Are you meticulously organized, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to a dynamic supply chain environment? Bidco Africa is seeking a dedicated Stock Control Assistant to join our warehouse team in Voi, Taita-Taveta County. This is a crucial role that ensures the accuracy and integrity of our inventory, which is vital for our production and distribution operations. As a Stock Control Assistant, you will be at the heart of our warehouse, responsible for maintaining precise records of incoming and outgoing goods, conducting regular stock counts, and identifying discrepancies. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment and requires flexibility for shift work, reflecting the 24/7 nature of our operations. You will play a key role in optimizing warehouse space, implementing efficient storage solutions, and upholding the highest standards of safety and organization. We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts (cycle counts and full physical counts) to ensure accuracy between physical stock and system records.
  • Investigate and reconcile stock discrepancies, providing clear explanations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking or stock-outs, and escalate issues to warehouse management.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and organization of goods within the warehouse.
  • Assist in the receiving and dispatching process, verifying quantities and quality of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory data in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or ERP system.
  • Prepare comprehensive stock reports, including variance reports and inventory aging analyses.
  • Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Operate manual and powered material handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet jacks, potentially forklifts after certification).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the warehouse at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, including production, logistics, and sales, to optimize inventory flow.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a warehouse, stock control, or inventory management role.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel and inventory management software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, lift and move goods, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Forklift operator certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in a warehouse setting.
