Job Description

Are you a highly organized and meticulous individual with a keen eye for detail, ready to ensure our shelves are always brimming with fresh products? Simba Supermarket is searching for a dedicated Stock Clerk with strong inventory management skills to join our dynamic team in Nyamata, Bugesera, Eastern Province. This essential full-time role is crucial to the smooth operation of our supermarket, acting as the vigilant gatekeeper of our product flow.

As a Stock Clerk, you will be the backbone of our store’s supply chain, directly impacting our ability to serve our community. Your day will involve the efficient receiving of new shipments, carefully inspecting deliveries for accuracy and quality, and meticulously storing products in their designated locations within our warehouse and stockrooms. You will be instrumental in organizing inventory, ensuring optimal stock rotation to minimize waste and maximize freshness, particularly for perishable goods. Furthermore, you will actively participate in regular inventory counts, helping to maintain precise stock records that are vital for reordering and financial accuracy. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying potential stock discrepancies, reporting damages, and ensuring all storage areas are kept clean, orderly, and compliant with safety standards. You’ll work closely with department managers and sales associates, ensuring that products are readily available to meet customer demand on the sales floor. Success in this role means contributing to a well-oiled operation where products are consistently available, waste is minimized, and the shopping experience for our customers is seamless and satisfying. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming merchandise for accuracy, quantity, and quality, comparing with purchase orders and invoices.
  • Efficiently organize and store products in designated areas within the stockroom, adhering to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Perform regular stock rotation, particularly for perishable items, to ensure product freshness and minimize spoilage.
  • Conduct accurate periodic inventory counts and assist in reconciling discrepancies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas, including shelves, racks, and aisles.
  • Identify and report damaged, expired, or misplaced items to management promptly.
  • Assist in moving merchandise to the sales floor as needed, ensuring shelves are well-stocked and visually appealing.
  • Operate basic material handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet jacks) if required.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in stock handling or inventory management, preferably in a retail or supermarket setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic mathematical skills for counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software or systems.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced supermarket environment.
