Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine the layout, dimensions, and type of steel required.
- Cut and bend steel bars, rods, and mesh to the specified lengths and shapes using hand and power tools.
- Assemble and tie steel reinforcement bars (rebar) into cages or grids, ensuring correct spacing and alignment.
- Install formwork and scaffolding as needed to support steel structures.
- Securely fix steel reinforcement using tying wire, clips, and other fastening methods.
- Ensure all work complies with engineering specifications, relevant building codes, and safety regulations.
- Inspect finished work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering strictly to site safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction workers, supervisors, and project managers.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or Rebar Tier
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency in using steel-fixing tools and equipment (e.g., rebar cutters, benders, tying guns)
- Strong understanding of construction site safety regulations and practices
- Excellent physical stamina and strength for heavy lifting and prolonged standing
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or certification in steel fixing or construction trades
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or high-rise building projects
- Good communication skills in English
