Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
- Formulate individualised therapy programmes and deliver effective interventions to diverse caseloads.
- Provide advice, support, and training to patients, their families, carers, and other professionals.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with professional and organisational guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision, clinical governance activities, and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage a varied caseload efficiently, prioritising needs and managing time effectively.
Required Skills
- BSc or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Full membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Proven experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist, ideally within a community or clinical setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of a range of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate training or specialisation in specific areas of SLT (e.g., dysphagia, voice disorders, autism).
- Experience working with both paediatric and adult populations.
- Familiarity with local health and social care pathways in Wales.
- Experience supervising junior staff or students.
