Are you a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a profound impact on the lives of individuals in Newport, Wales? In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders in both children and adults. You will develop and implement personalised therapy plans, utilising evidence-based practices to support improved outcomes and enhanced quality of life for your patients. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Formulate individualised therapy programmes and deliver effective interventions to diverse caseloads.
  • Provide advice, support, and training to patients, their families, carers, and other professionals.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with professional and organisational guidelines.
  • Participate in regular supervision, clinical governance activities, and continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage a varied caseload efficiently, prioritising needs and managing time effectively.

Required Skills

  • BSc or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Full membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Proven experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist, ideally within a community or clinical setting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of a range of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate training or specialisation in specific areas of SLT (e.g., dysphagia, voice disorders, autism).
  • Experience working with both paediatric and adult populations.
  • Familiarity with local health and social care pathways in Wales.
  • Experience supervising junior staff or students.
