Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs under the direction of a class teacher or SENCo.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies.
  • Help prepare and adapt learning materials to suit individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Support students with communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with classroom management and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Observe and record student progress, behaviour, and development, reporting observations to the class teacher.
  • Facilitate student independence and participation in classroom activities.
  • Provide personal care support where necessary, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Participate in relevant training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) working with children or young people, particularly those with special educational needs
  • Knowledge of various learning disabilities or behavioural challenges
  • Relevant first aid qualification
