Tahir Guest Palace is actively seeking a highly skilled, passionate, and dedicated Sound Engineer specializing in Live Events to enrich our dynamic and growing events team. This pivotal role encompasses the entire lifecycle of audio production for a diverse range of live events hosted at our prestigious venue, ensuring an unparalleled and immersive acoustic experience for every single occasion. From the nuanced requirements of intricate corporate presentations and engaging seminars to the high-octane energy of musical concerts, vibrant cultural performances, and grand social gatherings, you will be the driving force behind the sound. Your primary responsibilities will include the meticulous design, strategic setup, expert operation, and efficient dismantling of sophisticated sound systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, set up, and operate complex sound systems for a variety of live events, including conferences, concerts, weddings, and corporate functions.
  • Conduct thorough sound checks and rehearsals, ensuring optimal audio levels and clarity for all performers and presenters.
  • Mix front-of-house (FOH) and monitor sound during live events, adapting to on-the-fly changes and audience feedback.
  • Perform routine maintenance, testing, and calibration of all audio equipment, including mixers, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any audio-related technical issues promptly during events to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborate with event planners, clients, and performers to understand their specific audio requirements and provide expert recommendations.
  • Manage audio inventory, ensuring all equipment is accounted for, properly stored, and in excellent working condition.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in audio technology and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational procedures during equipment setup and dismantling.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians or support staff as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Sound Engineer, specifically in live event production.
  • Proficiency with digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, microphone techniques, and PA system design.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot various audio equipment.
  • Excellent ear for sound quality and an acute attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certification or diploma in Audio Engineering, Sound Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with professional audio software (e.g., SMAART, Waves, Logic Pro, Pro Tools for live playback/FX).
  • Knowledge of lighting and visual systems integration.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel or large event venue environment.
  • Fluency in Hausa and English.
