Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of children and families requiring support and intervention.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children’s needs, risks, and circumstances, in accordance with relevant legislation and local policies.
- Develop, implement, and review care plans, ensuring they are child-centred and outcome-focused.
- Undertake direct work with children, young people, and their families to promote their welfare and address identified needs.
- Prepare clear, concise, and analytical reports for various purposes, including court proceedings and child protection conferences.
- Participate in child protection inquiries, strategy meetings, and multi-agency panels.
- Provide expert advice and support to families, carers, and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using electronic systems.
- Actively participate in supervision, team meetings, and continuous professional development.
- Collaborate effectively with partner agencies and community resources to provide integrated services.
Required Skills
- Social Work Degree (e.g., BA, MA in Social Work) or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Current registration with Social Care Wales.
- Demonstrable experience in Children's Social Services, including direct work with children and families.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to children's social care in Wales.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Full valid UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-qualifying experience in a specific area of Children's Services (e.g., Looked After Children, Safeguarding, Fostering).
- Experience with restorative practice or trauma-informed approaches.
- Proficiency in spoken Welsh is desirable but not essential.
