Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure smart grid architectures and systems, incorporating advanced analytics, IoT, and cloud technologies.
- Perform detailed system analysis, modeling, and simulation to optimize grid performance, stability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, software development, product management) to define system requirements and technical specifications.
- Integrate various smart grid components, including Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and SCADA systems.
- Develop and implement communication protocols and data exchange mechanisms for intelligent grid devices.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of smart grid solutions to ensure compliance with industry standards and performance benchmarks.
- Provide technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-sales to post-implementation.
- Stay abreast of emerging smart grid technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes to inform future product development.
- Document system designs, functional specifications, and test plans thoroughly.
- Participate in customer workshops and presentations to gather feedback and present technical solutions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 36 months (3 years) of professional experience in power systems, smart grid technologies, or energy management systems.
- Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including generation, transmission, distribution, and protection.
- Proficiency in smart grid communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus).
- Experience with SCADA/DMS/EMS systems and grid automation solutions.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles applied to critical infrastructure.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (English required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and IoT integration.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java for system development and scripting.
- Understanding of renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Familiarity with German energy market regulations and standards (e.g., EEG, EnWG).
- Professional certifications in power systems, cybersecurity, or project management.
- Proficiency in German language (B2 level or higher).
