We are seeking a highly motivated and visionary Smart City Infrastructure Planner to join our dynamic team in Tokyo, Japan. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive smart city master plans and infrastructure strategies, integrating digital technologies with physical urban systems.
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies, impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for proposed smart city projects.
- Collaborate effectively with government bodies, urban planners, local communities, technology partners, and internal Hitachi teams to define project requirements and objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate cutting-edge technologies (IoT, AI, big data, renewable energy, autonomous systems) into infrastructure designs and urban services.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful delivery of smart city infrastructure initiatives from concept to deployment.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and international best practices in urban development and infrastructure planning.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and proposals for stakeholders, conveying complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Stay abreast of global smart city trends, emerging technologies, and policy developments to inform strategic planning and maintain competitive advantage.
- Facilitate workshops and engage in public consultations to gather input and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of urban planning principles, infrastructure development, and smart city concepts.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMP, Agile).
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and CAD tools for urban design and analysis.
- Knowledge of IoT technologies, AI/ML applications, and big data analytics in an urban context.

- Professional certification in urban planning (e.g., AICP) or project management (e.g., PMP).
- Experience working on international urban development or smart city projects, particularly in Asia.
- Proficiency in Japanese language (JLPT N2 or higher) is highly preferred for local stakeholder engagement and internal communication.
- Familiarity with public-private partnership (PPP) models for infrastructure development.
- Experience with data visualization tools and urban simulation software.
