Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming.
- Apply paint, wallpaper, and other finishes to a high standard, using various tools and techniques.
- Carry out internal and external decorating tasks on residential, commercial, and public sector properties.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, to specification, and within agreed timescales.
- Perform minor repairs to surfaces as required before decoration.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment at all times.
- Select and mix paints to achieve desired colours and textures.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and site managers.
- Manage and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator, with a strong portfolio of work.
- Excellent knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in surface preparation, including patching, sanding, and caulking.
- Skilled in applying various types of paint, varnish, and wallpaper.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience working on diverse project types (e.g., social housing, heritage sites, commercial).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to construction sites.
