Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrician to join our dedicated technical services team in the Derby, North West area. As a key member of our on-site team, you will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks across our diverse client sites. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems, contributing directly to client satisfaction and operational excellence. You will work on various commercial and industrial premises, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and new installations, ensuring all work complies with the latest IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to health and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Perform reactive maintenance and emergency repairs on electrical faults, diagnosing issues efficiently and providing effective solutions.
- Conduct electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades to existing infrastructure in accordance with design specifications and industry standards.
- Carry out electrical testing, inspection, and certification of installations, ensuring adherence to BS 7671 (18th Edition) wiring regulations.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including job sheets, reports, and risk assessments, accurately and on time.
- Manage and maintain stock levels of electrical components and materials, ensuring availability for ongoing projects.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices at all times.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other team members to coordinate work and provide technical advice.
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours emergency support as required.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe during and after completion of tasks.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
- City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations).
- Proven experience as a qualified Electrician, preferably within commercial or industrial environments.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Full UK driving license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to health and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations) or equivalent.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS).
- Familiarity with various types of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting.
- IPAF or PASMA certification.
- Prior experience working in facilities management or a multi-site environment.
