Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team for a crucial night shift role within a bustling retail environment located in Nyamasheke, Western Province. This is a pivotal full-time position where your commitment to safety and security directly contributes to the operational integrity and asset protection of our retail partner. As a Night Shift Security Officer, you will be the frontline guardian, responsible for maintaining a secure and safe environment during non-business hours, which are critical for inventory management, cleaning, and preparation for the next day’s operations.
Your primary focus will be on proactive surveillance, monitoring premises for any unauthorized access, suspicious activities, or potential security breaches. This role demands a high level of alertness, keen observation skills, and the ability to act decisively and professionally under pressure. You will conduct regular patrols, both internal and external, checking all access points, ensuring alarm systems are functioning correctly, and securing all areas of the retail establishment. The night shift offers a unique set of challenges and responsibilities, requiring self-reliance and excellent judgment. You will be instrumental in preventing theft, vandalism, and ensuring compliance with all security protocols and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols of the retail premises to detect and deter security threats.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Secure all entry and exit points, ensuring they are properly locked and alarmed after business hours.
- Document and report all security incidents, irregularities, and suspicious occurrences accurately and thoroughly.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors during your shift.
- Respond to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or other critical situations, following established protocols.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the retail establishment when required, ensuring a seamless transition.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary and provide evidence or statements as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in security, preferably in a retail or commercial setting.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate CCTV systems and other security equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and interaction.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Physical fitness to conduct regular patrols and stand for extended periods.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- A valid security guard license or equivalent certification (if applicable in Rwanda).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working night shifts.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local security laws and regulations in Rwanda.
