As a Night Shift Security Officer, you will be the eyes and ears of our store, responsible for maintaining a secure environment and preventing potential threats such as theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. Your duties will extend beyond traditional surveillance; you will be instrumental in identifying and mitigating risks, responding to alarms, and conducting regular patrols of the entire retail facility, including the sales floor, back-of-house areas, loading docks, and parking lots. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, including sales floor, stockrooms, loading docks, and parking areas, during night hours.
- Monitor CCTV surveillance systems diligently for suspicious activities, security breaches, or emergencies.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations, following established protocols.
- Deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access by maintaining a visible and vigilant presence.
- Document all incidents, observations, and daily activities accurately in detailed reports.
- Ensure all entry and exit points are securely locked and unauthorized access is prevented.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures consistently.
- Liaise with management, local law enforcement, and emergency services as required.
- Assist with loss prevention efforts by identifying and reporting potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance when interacting with staff or emergency personnel.
- Conduct safety checks and report any potential hazards.
Required Skills
- PSIRA Grade C or higher registration (valid and up-to-date)
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a security officer role, preferably in a retail or commercial environment.
- Excellent observational and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong understanding of security procedures, protocols, and emergency response.
- Proficiency in monitoring CCTV systems and alarm panels.
- Ability to complete detailed incident reports accurately.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
- Physical fitness to conduct regular patrols and stand for extended periods.
- Valid South African driver's license (advantageous, not essential).
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and Firefighting certification.
