Job Description
Cosgrove Investment Limited is looking for a proactive and highly dependable Security Officer for an essential night shift role within one of our prestigious estates in Gwarimpa, Abuja. This position is crucial for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our residents and properties. As a Security Officer on night patrol, you will be the eyes and ears of the estate during critical overnight hours, responsible for deterring unauthorized activities, responding to incidents, and ensuring the general security protocols are strictly followed. You will conduct regular patrols, monitor surveillance systems, and act as a visible deterrent to crime. We are seeking an individual with a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and the ability to act calmly and effectively under pressure. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough patrols of designated estate areas, including residential zones, common facilities, and perimeter, during assigned night shifts.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and other surveillance equipment for suspicious activities, security breaches, or emergencies.
- Control access points, verifying credentials for vehicles and pedestrians entering and exiting the estate, and maintaining accurate logs.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, disturbances, or emergency calls, following established procedures.
- Write comprehensive and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation as required.
- Enforce estate rules and regulations, addressing violations courteously but firmly.
- Provide visible security presence to deter criminal activity and ensure resident safety.
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies when necessary and assist in investigations.
- Conduct routine checks on gates, fences, lighting, and other security infrastructure, reporting any defects.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and visitors, offering assistance and directions when needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role (e.g., military, law enforcement) for at least 1 year.
- Sound knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment (CCTV).
- Excellent observation and communication skills.
- Strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English for report writing.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid security guard license or certification (e.g., DSS, NSCDC training).
- Previous experience in residential estate security.
