Halogen Security Company Limited is seeking dedicated Security Guards to join our team at a prominent shopping mall in Abuja. This critical role involves maintaining a safe and secure environment for shoppers, staff, and property through proactive surveillance, rapid response, and adherence to security protocols. As a Security Guard, you will be the frontline representative of safety and order, ensuring a pleasant and secure experience for everyone visiting the mall.
This position requires working in a shift rotation system, which includes day, night, weekend, and public holiday shifts. Flexibility and reliability are paramount. You will be responsible for observing and reporting suspicious activities, enforcing mall policies, assisting customers, and collaborating with mall management and emergency services when necessary. We are looking for individuals with a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observation skills, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol the shopping mall premises regularly, both on foot and using designated surveillance equipment, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to alerts and investigating disturbances.
- Control access points for visitors, staff, and deliveries, ensuring proper authorization and adherence to security procedures.
- Interact professionally with shoppers and mall staff, providing assistance, directions, and customer service while maintaining a visible security presence.
- Enforce mall rules and regulations, addressing unauthorized activities and ensuring compliance.
- Prepare detailed incident reports on any observed irregularities, security breaches, or unusual occurrences.
- Respond effectively to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, and active threats, following established protocols and coordinating with emergency services.
- Conduct bag checks and searches as required, in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines.
- Assist in the evacuation of the mall during emergencies, guiding people to safety and maintaining order.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when required, providing support and information.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness at all times.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors during shift handovers.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Guard or similar role, preferably in a retail or public access environment.
- Excellent observational and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and basic security technology.
- Strong understanding of security procedures and protocols.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in emergency situations.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform regular patrols and stand for extended periods.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
- Basic first aid knowledge or willingness to be trained.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized security training program or certification.
- Previous experience working in a shopping mall or large commercial complex.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and laws.
- Valid driver's license.
