Job Description
Simba Supermarket is seeking vigilant, dedicated, and customer-focused Security Guards to join our team in Gatsibo, Eastern Province. This critical role involves protecting our assets, ensuring the safety of our customers and employees, and maintaining a secure and friendly shopping environment. As a Security Guard, you will be the front line of defense against loss and disorder, utilizing your keen observation skills and calm demeanor to deter theft, manage potential conflicts, and respond effectively to security incidents. This position requires working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure continuous coverage. You will be responsible for patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, checking bags and receipts, and assisting customers with directions or inquiries while upholding our company’s values of service excellence and integrity. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol the retail store premises regularly to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, theft, or damage.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify and respond to security threats or suspicious activities.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including shoplifting incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, or fire alarms.
- Enforce company policies and procedures regarding security, safety, and customer conduct.
- Conduct bag and receipt checks at exits to ensure all merchandise is accounted for.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with inquiries, giving directions, and fostering a friendly atmosphere.
- Maintain detailed daily logs of activities, observations, and incidents.
- Collaborate with store management and local law enforcement when necessary.
- Ensure the safety and security of all customers, staff, and company assets.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the store as they pertain to security.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Guard or similar role, preferably in a retail setting.
- Ability to operate detection equipment and surveillance systems.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting calmly and effectively with diverse individuals.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Knowledge of basic security procedures and protocols.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional security training or certification is a plus.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and surveillance monitoring.
- Prior experience working shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
