Job Description
Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard for a retail environment in Muhanga, Southern Province. This vital full-time position operates during day shifts, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of premises, assets, employees, and customers. As a Security Guard, you will be the frontline presence deterring theft, vandalism, and other illicit activities, while also providing a visible security presence that instills confidence. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, excellent observational skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a secure and welcoming retail atmosphere. Your daily actions will directly contribute to a safe shopping experience and the smooth operation of our client’s retail business. This role requires professionalism, integrity, and the ability to respond effectively to various security situations, upholding the highest standards of conduct and vigilance.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas on foot and/or by vehicle, monitoring for suspicious activity, unauthorized persons, and potential security threats.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly and appropriately to alerts.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security, safety, and access control.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance needs.
- Deter theft, shoplifting, and other criminal activities through visible presence and proactive surveillance.
- Respond to incidents such as disturbances, medical emergencies, or security breaches, providing initial assessment and escalating as required.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation.
- Assist customers and employees with security-related inquiries, providing direction and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
- Control access points, verifying credentials for authorized entry and exit.
- Maintain a calm and professional composure during stressful situations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a security guard, preferably in a retail or commercial setting.
- Ability to operate security equipment and systems (e.g., CCTV, alarm panels).
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional security training or certifications are a plus.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and protocols in Rwanda.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English; French proficiency is a bonus.
