ISCO (International Security Company Ltd), Rwanda’s premier security solutions provider, is seeking dedicated Security Guards for a night shift at a busy mall in Kigali. This isn’t just a job; it’s a vital responsibility to ensure the safety and security of property, assets, and any authorized personnel present during non-operational hours. As a Night Shift Mall Security Guard, you will be the eyes and ears of the mall, operating predominantly independently and making crucial decisions to maintain order and deter criminal activity. Your duties will encompass a wide range of security functions, from diligent patrols of the entire premises – including parking areas, common spaces, and restricted zones – to advanced CCTV monitoring and rapid response to alarms or suspicious incidents. The role demands exceptional observational skills, physical stamina, and an unwavering commitment to detail, especially during the quiet hours where vigilance is paramount. You will be instrumental in conducting thorough checks, ensuring all entry and exit points are secured, and meticulously documenting all occurrences. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our client’s property, ensuring a secure environment for future daytime operations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of the entire mall premises, including interior and exterior areas, parking lots, and loading docks, throughout the night shift.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems diligently, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities, unauthorized access, or security breaches.
- Control access points, verify credentials of authorized personnel, and ensure all entry and exit doors are properly secured after operating hours.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies (e.g., fire, medical incidents), and security incidents, following established protocols.
- Document all incidents, observations, and activities in detailed and accurate reports, ensuring clear communication with daytime security staff and management.
- Enforce mall rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and orderly environment during non-operational hours.
- Assist in the protection of mall assets and property from theft, vandalism, and other criminal acts.
- Perform routine checks of security equipment, lighting, and emergency systems, reporting any malfunctions.
- Collaborate with emergency services (police, fire department) as needed during critical situations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Guard, preferably in a commercial or retail environment (minimum 1 year)
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail, especially during prolonged periods of monitoring.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and interaction.
- Ability to operate CCTV and other security monitoring equipment.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
- Basic first aid knowledge or willingness to undergo training.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working night shifts.
- Completion of a recognized security training program or certification.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and emergency procedures.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English; French is a plus.
