Job Description
Philippolis Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary School Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons aligned with the national curriculum (CAPS) and school standards.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of achievement.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, share best practices, and support school-wide goals.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities, school events, and professional development opportunities.
- Implement various teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, including students with special educational needs.
- Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Mentor and guide students in their academic and personal development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant field with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
- South African Council for Educators (SACE) registration
- Proven experience teaching at secondary school level (Grades 8-12)
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Strong subject matter knowledge and pedagogical expertise
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans (advantageous for effective communication in the region)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with integrating technology into teaching and learning
- Ability to teach multiple subjects within the secondary curriculum
- Experience in coaching sports or leading extra-curricular clubs/societies
- A Master's degree in Education or a related field
- Knowledge of student counseling or support strategies
